The Digestive System
The digestive system changes food into a form that body cells can use for food.
All the parts of the digestive system help transform food into the energy our body needs to keep working.
The Digestive System process
The mouth helps crush food using the teeth and tongue.
The throat allows the passage of swallowed liquids and solids into the oseophagus.
In the stomach food churns and mixes until it forms a liquid.
In the small intestine nutrients from the liquid pass into the blood.
The parts of food we cannot use go into the large intestine.

The Respiratory System
The respiratory system allows us to breath in (inhalation) and breathe out (exhalation).
The respiratory system takes oxygen from the air and passes it into the blood. The blood then takes it to our body cells to keep us alive.
Breathing
During inhalation our nose cleans, warms, and moistens the air. When we exhale, air leaves our mouth with the particles our body doesn't need.
The Layrnx
The layrnx has three functions: it channels air to the lungs; it controls access to the lungs and it allows us to speak and make other sounds.
The Windpipe
Under the layrnx is the windpipe (trachea). It is a tube aproximately 10-12 centimetres long.
The Bronchial Tubes
The windpipe divides into the two stem bronchial tubes, one for the left lung and one for the right lung.
Breathing
When we breathe in, air enters the lungs. First it is cleaned and warmed in the nose. Then it goes down the windpipe. Finally, it goes down the bronchial tubes and into our lungs.
In our lungs, oxygen passes from the air into our blood through the alveoli. Our heart then delivers the oxygenated blood to the body cells.
Next, the blood picks up carbon dioxide from our body cells and returns it to our lungs. In our lungs the carbon dioxide is separated from our blood and leves our body every time we breathe out.

The Circulatory System
The Heart
The circulatory system carries blood through our body.
The heart is a muscular organ that pumps blood to every part of our body. The blood travels through blood vessels: arteries, veins
and capillaries.
Arteries carry blood with oxygen and nutrients from our heart to all parts of our body. Arteries are red in
pictures.
Veins carry blood with carbon dioxide back to the heart. They are blue in pictures.
Capillaries are tiny blood vessels that take blood to every corner of our body.
Blood Circulation
Blood pumped to our heart travels to all parts of our body, carrying the oxygen and the different substances our cells need.
When we do exercise our cells need extra oxygen so our heart needs to pump faster. When we rest our heart pumps more slowly.
There are absolutely no positive affects of smoking, only negative ones that have extremely high possibilites of ending in death!
